Karl-Heinz Fraiss
Extensive cultivation of his land is very important to Karl-Heinz Fraiss. He only mows the grassland once or twice and does not start mowing until mid-June; he does not use any manure at all. There are various biotopes on his farm that are home to a variety of species. The diverse habitats on his farm include eight ponds that are left to nature and 14 stone piles that Karl-Heinz Fraiss has created as frost-free winter quarters for amphibians and reptiles and which are well received. He is also proud of his variety of shrubs; thanks to rosehip, hawthorn and blackthorn, the red-backed shrike also feels at home on the farm and even breeds there. In the forest, deadwood and over 50 nesting boxes ensure the preservation of forest biodiversity. Karl-Heinz is a biodiversity mediator at ‘Vielfalt am Betrieb’.
