Gerhard Paulitsch

Carinthia

Together with his wife Doris, Gerhard Paulitsch runs an organic suckler cow farm with around 22 hectares of farmland, of which 12 hectares are forest and the rest grassland. Fruit growing with direct marketing is also an important pillar of the farm.

Commitment to biodiversity:

In many places, landscapes are being cleared in order to be able to farm even more rationally. This is very different on Gerhard Paulitsch's farm, where valuable structures are preserved and deliberately created. This ranges from nesting boxes and cut blackberry canes, which are piled into heaps, to the preservation of old cairns and near-natural forest edges. The centrepiece, however, are the colourful orchards around the farm, where you can find berries as well as old pear trees and rose bushes. With great attention to detail, a colourful, structurally rich variety has been created that not only provides important wind protection and shade, but also offers insects, birds and other animals valuable food and living space all year round.
