Susanne Türtscher
Vorarlberg
Commitment to biodiversity:
Susanne Türtscher and her husband painstakingly maintain and preserve 9 hectares of single-mown rough pastures, 6 hectares of common meadows and 40 hectares of alpine pastures. In this way, they preserve grassland habitats that have become very rare. The haymaking work on the very steep meadows lasts all summer long and is only possible with the help of their daughters. Susanne Türtscher is a passionate herbalist and cultivates 2 large herb gardens with a variety of different herbs that provide food for flowering visitors. She allows some of the herbs and shrubs to form seeds and the seeds and fruits are gladly accepted by many birds as winter food.
