Commitment to biodiversity:

Working in harmony with nature is very important to Andreas Hager from the Mühlviertel region. His love of nature and animals has inspired him since childhood, as his parents' farm was converted to organic farming back in the 1980s. Organic is a way of life for Andreas. Since taking over the farm outside the family in 2014, they have been transforming their farm organisation step by step. Planting hedges, flower and butterfly strips and 2 hectares of agroforestry are just a few of the numerous measures that Andreas has implemented to increase structural diversity. A targeted and varied grazing strategy and a reduction in the frequency with which the meadows are cut have also contributed to biodiversity. Wetland biotopes have also been added. For many years, he has devoted himself intensively to the topic of soil and has deepened his knowledge at specialist seminars and certificate courses. He cultivates his fields using regenerative methods and almost exclusively grows mixed crops, but any crop with undersown or companion crops. As a nature and landscape mediator, Andreas passes on his extensive knowledge of agriculture through workshops and excursions. Together, the Hager family wants to boldly continue along this path, because they are convinced that diversity creates stability.
