Jakob Mayer
Four generations live on the farm, and Jakob Mayer has continued and revitalised some of his grandfather's agricultural focuses and techniques. Fruit processing was already a good source of extra income for his grandfather when cows were still being milked on the farm. Many of the orchard trees that Jakob Mayer harvests were planted by his grandfather. Jakob Mayer also uses the double-blade mower, which was common 60 years ago, again - in a modernised version - to mow the orchards. This mower is considered to be particularly insect-friendly. The meadows, on which various fruit trees and shrubs grow in loose stands, are not fertilised or sprayed. This allows many different grasses and herbs to grow there. In combination with the trees, this creates an incredibly diverse habitat for hundreds of plant and animal species. There is a pond on the farm and Jakob Mayer has created piles of stones and branches nearby as additional nesting sites for insects.
