Daniela und Alfons Kaufmann

Vorarlberg

On the Kaufmann family's 2-hectare farm, vegetables are grown on 3,000 m2 in permaculture alongside the cultivation of orchards.

Commitment to biodiversity:

Promoting biodiversity is one of the farm's most important goals. Daniela and Alfons Kaufmann planted hedges, planted 300 trees and created a biotope to create structural diversity. The colonisation of the red-backed shrike and a high density of lizards on the farm speak for the success of the measures. The food produced by the Kaufmann family has a very low ecological footprint. Seeds, seedlings and saplings are produced and sold on the farm. Extensive cultivation of the meadows is very important to them, which is why they only mow twice. Visitors can see the benefits of this extensive farming method for themselves on guided tours of the farm, and the diversity of flowers and insects on the Kaufmann family's land speaks for itself.
