Nikolaus Stiebitzhofer
For Nikolaus Stiebitzhofer it is a matter of course to allow disorder on the farm to promote biodiversity. Dead fruit trees serve as hiding places for pheasants and rabbits. Old hedges can also be left lying and rot. He doesn't mow the orchard around the house until late, after the partridges have hatched. There have been wild bees in a blind window on the farm for several decades and there are also 30 swallow nests to be found. He also creates annual and perennial flower strips. With his participation in the Blumenkorn project, Nikolaus Stiebitzhofer - who runs his business conventionally, produces rye and wheat without insecticides. The idea behind the “Blumenkorn” project is to increase sales opportunities in order to increase the proportion of areas that are grown insecticide-free and with additional flowering strips. Soil-friendly farming is also very important for Nikolaus Stiebitzhofer as an arable farmer.
