Petra Putz
Salzburg
Commitment to biodiversity:
The Putz family pays attention to different mowing times on the farm in order to maintain refuges for insects. For this reason, they only mow certain slopes and steep areas once. To create more structure on the land, they also planted a new meadow orchard, which is also used to utilise the fruit. Out of conviction, the Putz family keeps the cows on pasture and does not use silage at all. For Petra Putz, a large vegetable garden with a variety of flowers is part and parcel of a farm. One of her favourite projects is ‘School on the farm’, where she is keen to teach children how important nature, animal welfare and healthy food are.
