Commitment to biodiversity:

It is very important to the Thurnes family to give nature its freedom. They run their business as their main occupation in order to be able to devote their full attention to the diverse tasks. They breed Tyrolean stone sheep, mountain goats and Austro-Hungarian white baroque donkeys and thus make an important contribution to maintaining genetic diversity. As a member of Arche Austria, they value the diversity of old breeds. The Thurnes family cultivates the mountain meadows with one or two crops - also due to the location. A variety of herbs and wildflowers can also be seen in the garden around the farm, which are also mown later. Bumblebees and wasps build their nests in the herb garden, there are many butterflies to be seen and hawks and red kites circle around the yard. Two beehives with dark bees complement the garden. Direct marketing without intermediaries and the transfer of knowledge at the company are very important for Solveig and Manuel Thurnes, as they can give consumers a better understanding of the background of food production.
