Biodiversity in grassland is very important to Thomas Fankhauser. He promotes structural and species diversity on his grassland areas by only mowing some areas twice and also setting the mowing time later. This encourages a wide variety of herbs, among other things. This not only has a positive effect on biodiversity, but also increases the quality of the fodder for the hay dairy. It creates different high meadow areas through graduated meadow utilisation, while areas that are not mown are distributed across the entire farmland.
