Christian Hermann
In consultation with bird protection experts, Christian Hermann has planted a 600 metre long hedge with many different berry bushes and trees on his farm. This creates a valuable habitat for birds and insects. He is also leaving his meadows longer for ground-nesting birds. In future, fruit and vegetables will also be grown according to the market gardening principle: A variety of vegetables will be grown in a small area, interspersed with trees and shrubs. The soil is maintained by means of well thought-out crop rotation, intertillage and composting, and the land is cultivated by hand without the use of pesticides. The harvest is sold directly from the field to the consumer. The double benefit for people and nature is obvious.
