Commitment to biodiversity:
Ernst Modritsch is actively involved in the preservation of biodiversity. Since 1995, he has been helping to put up hundreds of nesting boxes for the scops owl and plant thousands of fruit trees in the Carnica Rosental region. This not only creates a valuable habitat for this rare owl, but also preserves old, autochthonous fruit varieties and a small-scale cultural landscape. He also has an impressive orchard of 200 trees on his own farm, to which he has added another 150 trees. And wherever you find orchards, you will always find extensification in cultivation, because a lot has to be done by hand. And extensification in any form is an improvement in biodiversity.
