FFN Austria meets FFN Lithuania

Film shoot with Lithuanian biodiversity ambassador Nerijus Sukackas

Brendan Dunford, the initiator of the Farming for Nature idea in his home country of Ireland, has created the vision of a Europe-wide network of biodiversity ambassadors. The aim of this network is to make sustainable, innovative methods in agriculture accessible to an even wider public. At the same time, it also aims to promote and strengthen international exchange between the ambassadors.

And Brendan's vision is taking shape: In addition to the “birthplace” of the Farming For Nature idea in Ireland there are now also ambassadors for biodiversity in Northern Ireland, Lithuania and Austria.

We are therefore very proud that the filming of the first international Farming for Nature film was recently completed. The film presents the farming methods of the Austrian biodiversity ambassador Alexander Steindl and the Lithuanian biodiversity ambassador Nerijus Sukackas.

Impressions of the film shoot

Photos film shoot Nerijus: Ruta Rosson

Both Nerijus and Alexander are convinced that grazing has a positive effect on biodiversity. In addition to cattle, both ambassadors use other four-legged supporters to help them manage the grassland areas in an even more targeted manner. By using different grazing animals, they cleverly promote diversity on the land - benefiting both their livestock and nature. They also use other measures to promote structural diversity on their grassland areas. Curious to find out what these are? Or would you like to find out more about the grazing strategies of the two ambassadors and how nature benefits from grazing? Then you'll have to be patient - as soon as the first international Farming For Nature film is released, you'll find out here on our homepage.

Farming For Nature Austria once again sends a big “THANK YOU!!!” to Farming for Nature Lithuania, especially to Ruta Rosson from the Baltic Environmental Forum Lithuania (left), who supported us during the filming on site, and of course to Nerijus Sukackas (right) and his wife Agne for the warm welcome in Lithuania, the hospitality and for the exciting day on their farm.
